Forensic Science Community:

     The American Academy of Forensic Science (AAFS)

          An organization that aids in continuing education of forensic scientists.  The

           hosts of the annual forensic science meeting.  Website contains meeting

           information, educational and employment information.

     Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (MAFS)

          The forensic science community of the Midwest. Website contains information

          about conference meetings, some employment opportunities, and a general

           overview of MAFS' goals.  

     The FBI Laboratory

          Information of the FBI’s crime laboratory and the type of analysis offered.

     The National Institute of Justice (NIJ)

          A description of NIJ, NIJ funded research topics, conferences, and continued

           education opportunities.  

     The Armed Forces DNA Identification Lab

          A government laboratory responsible for collecting and storing DNA evidence

           for the military.  Website contains DNA collection guidelines and a link to the

           Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii

     The Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS)

          The premier source of forensic science literature.  Our own Dr. Foran is an

           editor!

      The American Society of Crime Lab Directors (ACSLD)

          A professional society that helps train lab directors in management and

           leadership. Website contains information about the Organization, an FAQ

           geared towards students in forensic science, and some employment listings.

     The American Society of Crime Lab Directors/Laboratory Accreditation  

     Board

          The governing body responsible for accrediting forensic laboratories.

           Website contains information on accreditation requirements for labs and a list   

          of accredited labs throughout the United States.

     Crime Lab Report

          A compilation of news articles and opinions related to forensic science

     Michigan State Police Forensic Science Division

          A description of forensic science services offered by the Michigan State Police

           including DNA, bombs, and explosives

     Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC)

          The agency responsible for accrediting educational programs.  Website
